BRIGHTON........

not quite like the brighton sands back home...!

but sunsets are beautiful no matter where you are really.

one of my mates at work desided that he wanted to get the hell out of london for the day.

we didnt have much cash so our options were limited, and also becasue we only wanted to get out for the day- we had to go somewhere in the u.k

so we went to brighton- which is where the beach is, in south england.

it is a wierd feeling i tell you now - to be at the beach when it is a nice nd chilly 6'C

we went and had a few beers and fish and chips and there was an amuesment park on this big pier so we went on the rollercoaster, which cost £6.

in this picture you can see the pier with the rides behind me.

a wierd thing i saw that did my head in is- before you get to the amusement park on the pier you have to walk through like a timezone/arcade game buliding, that morphs into a pokie den. it spun me out to see adults piling their money into pokies while kids next to them are playing "Street Fighter"

it was a good day though to get out of the hustle and bustle of london and i think that is the key to surviving over here- get out every now and then.

one of the great things about london is getting away is not that hard.

will be trying to go to see stonehenge next weekend.

on the way home at the tube station i noticed this poster advertising sydney....

FREDDY MERCURY LIVES.......

every day when i walk to work i meander through the streets of londons west end i pass many of its theatres. there is quite literally a theatre on every corner.

my bar is situated right next to a theatre that shows "Marry Poppins"

across the road is Andrew Lloyd Webbers new show called "a Woman in White"

but my favourite one to walk past is the queen show "We Will Rock You"

because there is a HUGE golden statue of the ledgendary freddy mercury that towers over the people as they scurry past.

i thought maddie would get a kick out of these pictures.

there is heaps of stuff like this over here that i take for granted now already so i am going to make an effort to blog about them.

:-)

ITS A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL................

when our security guy at work has his lunch break i have to go down and do the searching of people before they come in the bar- just basically pat down their pockets and make sure they dont have..........i dunno... A BOMB or something! mostly we just catch people trying to bring in drinks into the bar. it is quite inportant that it gets done because of the bar that got bombed on our street a couple of years ago.

anyway- i was doing this one night and it was freezing cold when all of a sudden i heard someone say...."owen! is that you?"

and it was english sam!

a good friend of mine that i made when i was living in sydney. he used to work at the video shop in the sydney park village in newtown and we were great friends for a while back then.

he moved to new york and i didnt have his email adress so we lost touch.

it was great to bump into him and we have had a few drinks to catch up on what we've been up to. it is insane that you can bump into someone you know on the other side of the world!

i am relly happy that i met him again because we really were such great mates. we used to go over esch others house every tuesday and have a tv marathon night - the secret life of us, sex and the city, friends, six feet under.

he is working in PA now for a austrailan pop start called "Gina G".

does anyone remember her? she had a big hit in the 90's with this song called "ooh....aahhh just a Little Bit"

it was crap then and its crap now- but anyway- she is making a comeback and will proabaly play at our club when she releases her new song.

well just a quick post because i have no usb port at the internet cafe i am at.....

Edingburgh is an amazingly beautiful city.

the city looks like someone has transported it from the middle ages and they have only put new cars, street lights, and shop fronts there from the 21st century.

the scottish were very nice.

haggis taste like shit- but at least i tried it hey! (well to tell the truth i only had a bite- but it dod taste horrible)

a weekend out of london was EXACTLY what i needed to re-energise my self and that is how i feel.

REENERGISED.

not long after i came back i had a flat fall into my lap. didnt want to post about it and jinx it before hand but now i have half unpacked my siutcase i feel safe enough to say it!!!

it is in a place called "Wood Green" .

it is in north london and in is on the piccadilly line and it takes me about 25 min on the tube to get to work, and it takes about 45min to work on the bus.

unfortunalty i have to catch the bus home from work.

:-(

lol.

they have turned the lounge room into a bedroom and it is now a three bedroom house. i am sharing a room with a polish guy from work, Sebastion.

our room looks alot like the granny flat did that i lived in with glen when i was living with dad and ang in unanderra, we have two single beds and my side of the rooom has my wardrobe and drawers and we have the tv in the middle.

i am the only one in the house that speaks fluent english and sebastion is the only one who speaks o.k english.

it is going to be interesting time.

all in all it, i will still be looking for another house as i think living and working with someone will be hard, espeacially when i am the boss.....

one other thing that will make you all laugh i am sure.

i called angela the other day to say hello, and she said,

"whats wrong- do you need money?"

like that's the only time i call!!!!!

gee thanks! :-)

will post pictuers tommorow.
